The Canary Islands have the greatest concentration of underwater cables in the world, enabling excellent communications with Europe, Africa and America. Several international telecom companies operate in the Islands, with a high level of deregulation, using the most advanced data transmission technologies.

In terms of mobile telephones, there is now complete coverage with the GSM system. UMTS networks are also in place and ADSL technology has been installed for high-speed Internet connection.
